Custom size gingerbread house template generator (prints true scale)
Enter the size of the house you want. The page draws the two gable walls, two side walls and two roof panels at actual size and splits them over printable pages. Cut the paper pieces out, lay them on the rolled dough and cut around them.
How it works
Width and depth are the outside of the walls. The gable walls (front and back) are pentagons: a rectangle as tall as the walls with a triangle on top for the roof. The pitch sets how steep that triangle is. At 45° the roof rises half the house width.
The roof panels run the full depth plus the overhang at both ends, and reach from the ridge down past the wall by the overhang.
Dough has thickness, so two walls meeting at a corner overlap by that much. If the side walls sit between the front and back walls, they are cut shorter by two thicknesses. If they cover the front and back edges, the gable walls get narrower instead. Either way the house comes out at the size you typed. The assembly guide shows both joints.
The dough figure is the area of all six pieces times the thickness times the density, plus 25% for scraps. Gingerbread puffs and spreads a little in the oven, so lay the paper piece back on the hot sheet and trim the edges straight while the dough is still soft.
